Austin Jugglefest 2024

AAAAALLll the way down in the south, late in February, the old, the new, the inbetweens, we the several, met in a gymnasium in Austin Texas.

A group of the original members of the club (circa spring 2007) flew down and drove up and met with several past and current members. Over the course of the festival we got to connect, put faces to names, laugh and tell stories, and of course juggle.

The Festival was held in a Gymnasium, several events were had - 5 and 7 Ball Endurance challenges, 5 and 7 club endurance challenges, Longest catch challenge, etc. A huge line of club passing, swap partners every 2 minutes - this was close to an hour of straight passing - lots of fun, very tiring. Lots of workshops were put on over the weekend, including Magic, stage craft, Ball tricks, and balancing. The final show of the weekend was absolutely sublime - really inspirational, I know I went straight home and practiced like a nerd.

The Benevolent Society also showed up in force - around 20 in all, drove out from New Orleans! Led by their fearless leader Mr. Julian, they breathed a strong belch of new life and joviality into the convention. We the departed Alumns were heartened to see such zeal and enthusiasm in the current group.

There are those who say we should go back to Austin every year! I say let's try Mondo in Minneapolis :D but either way - jugglers gonna juggle.

It was a great time and I hope to have as much fun next year - and I hope to meet just as many new old Benevolent faces there!!
